The Unrighteous

And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

Malachi 2:4-6

My, there's that unpleasant word commandment again. What a harsh little word it is as we have seen before. The commandments though appear even as the Word of the Lord, whether for good or ill. Thus, when he says keeping commandment with them even to the third and fourth generation of them that hate him, it means he is longsuffering indeed. Patient and kind is he, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentence. Then again, if any do it is not for want of a way but rather for lack of following after his. Levi then was a tribe called after the Lord's own name, and a peculiar people that they were. Having no inhereitance save for himself alone, these were made in the following after. It is a picture almost as of "this is the way walk you in it." Whether you do or not, is entirely up to you. So also is the blessing or curse which follows but know that it does not causeless come. Notice though what difference some little language makes. Now this is not after the way of foul language muttered harshly as some are wont to think. Rather though, in this is the commandment seen. The covenant arose after the manner then of the blessing of the former. With it though, came all the blessings and responsibilities contained therein. These then were meant to be a peculiar people having neither inheritenance nor part to be found in the land. These lived entirely by the grace, goodness, and providing of our God. That is not to say these took of the offerings brought to the temple, whatever they wanted. No, I am not saying that at all. Remember though, the example of the sister Dinah and all the disorder that followed as told before in the text. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge as we have seen well and it will keep you from doing such things. Trust me on this little warriors, for is he not able to keep you all very well by his power held in the very same. Then is there some life and peace in it that is left to be found. Nor is his way burdensome at all. The weariness then that crept in before was hardly of him, for it did not know his name or come from him instead. Being made unto us then our wisdom and peace, is he not made into our very life itself. Knowing him, you see, is where it all starts. He can keep you in all places both from silliness as well as all foolishness, being life itself. These things then come from death itself, being made a part of sin. Come now to the table, spread and prepared with our Lord. He is something strong with which to keep our hearts and minds. I can see it now, Levi coming into the house now properly dressed. He was holding the scroll, the book of the Lord, with which to prepare the table, the people, the house and so to trust him to keep all very well. But now is something shifted, something's strange. Levi can't stop talking about the Lord, having sounded much like he swallowed the scroll. For is not truth issuing forth as after the Lord. So too does his heart burn within, being made anew, touched with fresh fire as of being touched with the very coal itself from the sacred altar up above. Now does he walk with our God. Then too are there some people to be found of that house that are in need of his blessing and instruction as well. Come now, let's see ought of the Lord.
