The Misused
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isaiah 53:11-12
Some of us have been looking for the power of God all along. Yet here there remains a certain situation. Perhaps some of you know this text all too well and others of you not at all. First off, the text speaks and rather rightly at that of the travail of the soul. Nor is it just any soul of which we speak here but rather the Lord's. We know it is him for sure because in the first half we see him being wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. Now I am not sure what all that means to you but to some it has meant a good deal. See along with the wounding and the bruising came the chastisement of our peace and the with his stripes we are healed.
So often some have wanted the healing and the peace and all the earthly things this world brings. How often some are quick to say 'Jesus paid it all.' But did he really pay for that success at the expense of his Son and everything this world has to offer. See, God is not just a genie in a bottle, ready to be called at a moments notice and grant you all your heart desires. How good God is to suffer none of that indeed. He has not for instance appointed unto himself for usery always nor to be trampled of those who know him not for long. It is some travail of the soul indeed to see himself treated thus, when he came only to win the people back to God. Hence it is some travail of the soul with an end date for it instead.
God has not appointed his people to be helpless always going through the valley or stuck with no way out. Regardless, God has come to bring life into the situation and freedom from your pain. It's who he is my friends, it just doesn't get any better than that. So then God has come to bring life to your situation and mine just as he has from his own. So too is there deliverance from it to be found in him indeed. See, we have not come unto a God which cannot save himself, as some would think, and so is forced to leave us very much alone. So he came to bear the sins once and after that God is leaving nothing out.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Herein is found the power of blessing yet even that of himself. So then there is some greatness coming for our God, a portion to be found. For those of you who are on the opposite side of that table, wouldn't you like to know. But to as many as received him who have joined with him on this side, there is a resurrection coming as God is brining all things out. Then there remains to be seen that of the portion of the great and the spoil divided among the strong. Come on now, he has brought his own self safely out has he not. It seems then there is a feast upon the table of the Lord, indeed, as in Psalm 23.
See, without him, the story very well indeed might have had a different way to end. Yet in all things was he not found obedient unto God his Father from the cross to the grave and even to that of the great beyond. It is where he is from is it not, that place of possibilities with God. See with man, are all things limited and some things never will for them fall into place. Yet in this place though, that of the beyond, is there power, forgiveness of sins, and a place in God's eternal home. Come on now, he has your seat ready and waiting for you. He has the power and has all along for it is his body, his blood, and his lands my friends.
