Swallowed Up
And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
Hebrews 6:11-14
My goodness, now at such a time as this truly it seems there is a contradiction to be found here in the Scriptures. Actually, it is more than a contradiction really but rather a certain puzzling condition that leaves a whole lot of questions. Here in the section the doctrinal teaching is not given to questions nor is it that Paul has simply been carried off by every stray wind of doctrine much as those silly women he had been in the habit of frequenting. So then it can be seen God's sustaining power more than all we could ask or think very much rather. For his power avails to all who would trust on him simply and also but to call on his name. Thus, the slothfulness itself is rather strange considering the great big hall of faith in which you would find yourself of Hebrews 11, perhaps more so than a griping record of failures by omission instead. Though it would follow that you cannot earn your salvation. Nor is it in any way bartered or even bought of the Lord. Such a thought in your head is rightfully madness indeed. But there is a showing spoken of almost as the perfect will of the Father of worked out in our hearts and our lives. Thus is the digiligence just unto him. After all, is he not the one that harvests the seed and so too brings it on then back to his barns. Though worth far more than wheat or tares or maybe even the birds, our God came and died for his children. Nor is it though so that you might show your blood to the priest and crucify him again in the flesh week to week. So then is there the showing forth just as unto the Lord. How many of you have heard of the phrase "show the Lord's death till he come" to the non-Jewish disciples. Then there's also the same diligence with which some of us would rather follow and reverence God's holy Word. So then it remains that if there is some hope to be seen, it's only of Christ our very best friend also our Master Savior, Father and Lord in the end. See herein is the hope much more than one of men though on the whole is it not just rather one of the Lord. Being confident of this very thing that he which has done a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ our Lord. With this in mind we give diligence making our calling and election as sure as it ought if indeed in Christ we have trusted and so too his precious blood bought. But there is a following spoken of after here in the text and it seems on first glance to be not of the Lord but as unto men. So after is Abraham given for example. How many of you know that Abraham was not as perfect there as he seemed. Then again is there that faith and patience has obtained something from God. Nor is it just that our God is sitting up so high in the sky making promises of someday and whichever way. See, man is like that which is why the following is told of those through faith and patience have rather obtained. Instead of obtaining though is there inheritance mentioned which in itself is a mighty strange thing. For you of all things know the law has no effect while the testator lives but rather some have endured counting him as faithful who promised. Is it not a state like unto them enduring who saw our Lord alive in the picture and so counting him worthy of all to give praise to his name. So then how many of us sing in the churches time and again 'make me a blessing' as though our Father God should have had us instead. In all this it seems mighty strange, does it not, for our God to have called Abraham a blessing regardless of whether he met up with Melchisedec who gave of the tithe and so too thereby kept many alive. For our God is not slack concerning his promises as some men count slackness, which in reality means slothfulness with a few other things thrown in there as well. So then it follows that there is blessing that is called forth as after the Lord. That means he is good all the time and thus is there blessing that comes forth from him then. See, in this is the heart of our Father undoubtedly questioned for oh how he delights in doing good to his children. I rather get the feeling so many of us ask him for life and health and our daily bread when in reality is he willing to fill us up with himself then instead. So that in the following after are we seated in Heavenly places there with his Son and abounding to every good work in the Lord. Maybe it means we will not have many earthly riches, and treasures, and stuff, and all other types of good pearls. Though when we lay our crowns before Jesus we will find himself our own great reward. It seems he swore by himself did he not for there was none greater instead. So that Abraham being the lesser was blessed by the greater seeing who lives who had promised and himself as but dust in the text. Indeed, it was just as he said for in this thing were all the nations of the earth blessed that you had seen and the children had been as the stars and sand of the sea. Though still did our God lead them and even there in the deep, after all the years, and uncertainty rather did his own hand lead them and even there were they guided. No, our God is not slack concerning his promises as some men would have counted it so long ago. Though in the end is there faith, hope, and love as brought forth of our Father above. For hope of all things makes itself not ashamed for when it is placed upon him. Nor is this a do nothing God we would serve wherein some would have entered and after fell down. So it follows then that as in Hebrews there is a danger of not being able to enter into his rest due to unbelief in the midst. Though when it is our God that you know how many know he does not have to be entreated or coaxed or in any way pleaded seeing him as who lived that had promised and so to be found till the end as after therein. So should you find yourself missing any lack of any good thing, just pause and remind yourself that your inheritance is just then of him and allow the Lord to come in. For is he not as he once said his shield and his eternal great reward that you should know down here below.
