Silent Lesson

20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

We're back once more with Lot's problem for most certainly he'd been captured along with the rest of the people there in that place and after that fashion. Though what good could've Lot done amongst all those captives but to have simply been. Assuming he was righteous and remained before the Lord, there's not a lot besides living a life of faith and quietness. Surely he might've told someone there of the need to escape and go tell Abraham. Surely he'd have sense enough to remind them of the Lord. At this point, these heavenly messengers are going out for one thing surely to see what has been done in that place and whether anything has changed. Certainly it's enough that hue and cry has come to Heaven though how that has been it's not just sure such that the Lord's not even understood. There's a great cry come forth about that place and there is too a record of their sin. It's almost enough to make anyone wonder, isn't it, about Lot's place in all of this. The Lord has really got to go and see for himself and as and the old song would've said 'come on by here Lord' cause we're really not sure what in all we've been doing that for. Perhaps God had given a set of instructions concerning this place, maybe not, but only he'd know for it's plain so to see. Though quite possibly just not to you and me. Lot however, is living proof of the difference that one life can make or two. Maybe by not saying anything he'd have doomed them all, this place. In telling the truth in love though it's worth more than souls above. Some might have even listened sure, which is where the Lord has now come in this far.
