Bound of the Lord
The princes of Judah
were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon
them like water. Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he
willingly walked after the commandment. Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a
moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
Hosea 5:10-12
Herein is found those that are broken in the house of the Lord. See, the real heart of the matter is that the Lord will not suffer any to be from his way turned aside, not ever, no matter how long. So then in his anger he brings about the rod of correction to straighten and sometimes to heal. Could it be that is what you may have already found. If you have not though, perhaps it is time to get ready before our God must come looking for you. Nor will it creep in softly on little cat feet without having suffered rebuke. You know how some of you do having left off all to follow the Lord. Oh no, we are not speaking of the older brother at home and alone. Rather I want you to see the state of the younger, the woman, that certain one Gomer which once had crept out of the house. Surely at times she had in her heart of hearts wandered off from the fold. Just look how our God is so gentle in this. There are some then though involved in the worship of others still in the house. At times like these it is sure easy to wonder if some were maybe the false gods which had taken his place. Then too at times you may wonder what has become of our dear old Hosea. Surely he has not Wanted for much if any having been found in the place of the Lord. How well does the Father look after his children. Back ain the Father's house, the older brother went not hungry or missing so I have heard. Nor did he have to make his home along with the pigs having fallen off of his riotous living. Besides all that, how many know that sin never pays. Sure, you likewise with Moses might enjoy the pleasures of Egypt there for a time. Yet life with the Father never grows boring or dull. You must remember how Hosea had once been made into a single father in the absence of having anyone there. Sure, Gomer would come home for awhile to rest up while having a child. Then when morning came it would find her having gone out for a run. Who knows where all she had wandered or even how oft, the text says it not. Neither should we so presume to make ought of the Lord. See Him here as he stands the good, good Father of course and Hosea ever ready to do all his bidding. I know, at times the Lord asks of us things to which we would rather not listen much less to obey. Then again, have the men of Judah come in as those having been removing the bound whether by accident or intention that much is sure. Well might you have heard how that hitherto has the Lord helped us of that we are sure. Now though in its' place there appears something else. Look with me first at what is wrong before having met with the rights of our God. It certainly is his place, is it not, should he choose to do the removing or not. Still though, what of the binding. Then too what of the Lord. See, there is a danger in being so caught up in that. How well too do the Scriptures say it is for his mercies then that none are consumed. For this reason then are they new every morning, his compassions fail not. It is somewhat difficult is it not to think of his wrath being poured out like water. Then too how many have heard of the how the old song once goes "like oil upon your feet, like wine for you to drink, I'll pour out my love on you.' I have a sneaking suspicion some of us need his love and his mercies now more than ever. It can be difficult to see in judgement at first, but then is our faith at last made into sight. Indeed between the many waters that quenched not the love of the Song there is yet the coming of morning to be seen for the house. So too remains there a rest for the people of God. Such feels mighty good too after the rain. When the storm and the rain is over and the victory won, just to think how good our God is to his people. Well might the lover Ephraim be seen now skulking around. Afterall, his beloved Gomer was allowed to wander no longer having been kept safely at home. Perhaps he too would like to sneak in and raise a little domestic contention though such a response now rings empty and true. Look how he is lying safe, as though one perverted in judgement. Indeed, the Lord has flung open the door to the case. Is it not his own dear house to which he has come even to those at the door of the fold. Might well the princes then have been as the posts of the house, of them found which had supported our Lord. Then too is the commandment made of no effect to the listeners. See, Christ came once for all to fulfill the law not to invalidate such nor to take it away. As the Psalmist once said the statues of the Lord are truth making wise the simple. So too do they do in converting the soul. Herein though is no life or health being found after the way of this sort. As those in the west often said 'tis a real mystery indeed.' Notice then in the confusion and the midst of all this the Lord slips in softly as he did in the temple. Remember too how that the people had once crowded around seeking to hurt him for his very much words. But the Lord in his wisdom slipped out unnoticed, unseen by them all. So too might you wonder what has caused the confusion. The Lord it seems in his wisdom will not suffer any to be lost or too far gone from the fold. No matter where you may wander then there remains the breath of the Lord. See him now as he flutters in as does the moth, stealing off some that are weak and sick of the fold. Then too at last does he enter as those which have found some rottenness at the hands of the Lord. Is not such though at odds with much earlier where he had promised to be always a God unto them. It seems not for nothing were the words once recorded of his coming at the hands of the Lord. So has he healed the sickness and carried their sin. For those found by the Father are these always with him indeed.
